Office
The Ombudsman’s office is normally open from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday to Friday, and has access for wheelchair users.
Situated at 17 Waterloo Place (a continuation of Edinburgh’s main street, Princes Street), the office is just a few minutes walk both from the city’s main railway station, Edinburgh Waverley, and from the bus terminal in St. Andrew’s Square. You may view a location map if you wish.

Staff
Mrs. Jane Irvine
Scottish Legal Services Ombudsman: the appointment is part time, for four days a week.
Jane Irvine has specialised in resolving consumer complaints and reviewing manner of responses to consumer complaints since 1980. Jane has acted as an arbitrator and conciliator in a diverse range of consumer issues from holiday to funeral and financial service complaints. She also sits on the Disciplinary Board of the Institute of Actuaries, acts as a mediator in consumer and commercial disputes and works voluntarily as a Member of the Mediation Panel for Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
As a past HM Lay Inspector of Constabulary for Scotland Jane reviewed manner of responses by Scottish Police forces to complaints by members of the public for three years 2001–2004. Jane was also the elected Chair of the Scottish Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators 2003–2005.
Jane Irvine is assisted by four full time and one part time Complaint Investigators.
